Chioma Mang is a seasoned banking executive with nearly three decades of leadership experience across Treasury and Corporate Finance, Retail and Corporate Banking, Business Development, Risk Management, and executive management. She has built a distinguished career within the United Bank for Africa (UBA) Group, holding senior roles in multiple countries and becoming the only UBA Chief Executive to have led subsidiaries across West, Central, and East Africa.
Chioma joined UBA in 1999 and rose through senior management positions in Nigeria, most recently serving as Regional Director, Victoria Island, Lagos. In 2011, she was appointed Regional Head/East Bank and Managing Director/CEO of UBA Liberia, where she repositioned the subsidiary, strengthened its market standing, and established it as a Systemically Important Bank. During this time, she also served as Vice President of the Liberian Bankers Association, contributing to sector development and crisis-response efforts during the Ebola pandemic while maintaining uninterrupted banking services.
In 2016, Chioma was redeployed as Managing Director/CEO of UBA Gabon, where she led a major turnaround, significantly growing the bank’s balance sheet and profitability. Under her leadership, UBA Gabon earned the Banker of the Year award from The Banker Magazine (Financial Times, London) for three consecutive years (2016–2019) and achieved recognition as the Best Digital Bank in Gabon.
Following these achievements, she was appointed Executive Director, East Bank at UBA, where she continues to drive strategic growth and operational excellence while supporting banking industry development in the region.
Chioma holds an LLB (Hons) from the University of Reading, an LLM in Commercial & Corporate Law from University College London (UCL), and is called to the Nigerian Bar. She has completed multiple executive leadership and management programmes and is widely recognised for her strategic insight, resilience, and commitment to mentorship and talent development.
