Chantal Umutoni Kagame is the Chief Executive Officer of MTN MoMo Rwanda, the mobile-money and digital financial services business of MTN Rwanda. She has over 20 years of experience in telecoms and fintech, with a strong track record in sales, distribution, mobile-financial-services operations, strategic planning and talent development across multiple jurisdictions.
Prior to her current role, she held senior roles in Rwanda’s telecommunications market, including at Tigo Rwanda where she was appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer in June 2015.
Her leadership at MTN MoMo Rwanda has been marked by strong operational growth, strategic focus on financial inclusion, and expanding female entrepreneur participation in digital-finance services.
Chantal holds a bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Finance) from the Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (now part of the University of Rwanda).
Her professional recognition includes awards such as “Female Fintech Leader of the Year” and listing among the “100 African Female Finance Leaders” for her impact in shaping the fintech and banking landscape in Africa.
