Yemisi Edun is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of First City Monument Bank (FCMB), making history as the first woman to hold this position. She assumed leadership of the bank in July 2021 following her tenure as Chief Financial Officer and Acting Chief Executive Officer. Her appointment marked a significant milestone in the institution’s commitment to diversity, professionalism, and visionary leadership.

Edun holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) and a Master’s degree in International Accounting and Finance from the University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) holder. In addition, she is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers, the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, and a member of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association.

Before her appointment as Managing Director, Edun served as FCMB’s Chief Financial Officer, where she was instrumental in strengthening the bank’s financial governance, strategic growth, and operational resilience. Her experience spans accounting, risk management, taxation, and audit, contributing significantly to FCMB’s growth and stability.

In recognition of her outstanding leadership and contribution to the Nigerian financial sector, Yemisi Edun was named Banker of the Year 2023 by Leadership Newspaper. The award highlighted her role in steering FCMB’s expansion in small and medium enterprise (SME) financing and positioning the bank as a catalyst for business growth and inclusion across Nigeria.
