Annastacia Kimtai is a Kenyan banker and corporate executive who serves as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of KCB Bank Kenya Limited, the Kenyan subsidiary of KCB Group Plc, one of East Africa’s largest financial services conglomerates. She assumed the position on 12 April 2023, following four months in an acting capacity. Her appointment marked a new chapter in the bank’s leadership structure, aligning with Central Bank of Kenya guidelines that separate the roles of the Group CEO from those of subsidiary CEOs.
Kimtai’s career in banking spans more than two decades. She began as a graduate management trainee in 1998 at a KCB branch in Mombasa and was promoted to branch manager in 2004. In 2011, she was appointed Director of Retail Banking, a position she held for over 11 years, driving growth, operational excellence, and customer engagement across KCB’s national network. Her leadership and institutional knowledge positioned her as a natural choice to lead the Kenyan subsidiary.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Master of Arts in Rural Economics from Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University (formerly Agra University) in India, as well as an MBA in Strategic Management. Kimtai has also completed the Senior Executive Program at Harvard Business School and other advanced leadership and management programs.
Beyond her executive role, Kimtai serves on the boards of KCB Group Plc, KCB Bank Kenya, and the KCB Group Foundation.
